I am getting very frightened of the way this country is heading regarding the show of patriotism for one’s country.  I read, with dismay, that the powers-that-be (whomever they may be) are considering a ban of flags at the upcoming FINA World Swimming Championships in Melbourne.  I understand their concern considering what happened at the Australian Open tennis.  However (and I hope I’m not being naive here) I really can’t see this being a problem at an event such as swimming.  Firstly, (and I am NOT being racist, just realistic), there are very few, if any, swimmers from those countries of which their supporters are radical lunatics, competing.

And what of us Australians who wish to cheer on our athletes with a hoot and a wave of our nation’s flag?  Shall we also be asked not to show our patriotism, a la Big Day Out?

First it was the banning of Christmas festivities in kinders and schools.  Now we are being put in fear for our safety by flying our flag!  Where will it all end?

Who else has an opinion on this matter?  Maybe I’m missing something here.  If so, please enlighten me.

I went for a drive up to my local shops yesterday.  They were resurfacing Canterbury Road in Heathmont.  Due to the fact they were letting cars through, I assumed (silly me) that the asphalt would be ok to drive on.  I now have four car tyres with treads that are completely clogged up with asphalt and other bits such as pebbles, leaves, dirt etc.  It is literally caked on!  Any hints on how to remove this stuff?  Who should I complain to as I think this is a ridiculous situation and there must be hundreds of other cars from yesterday with the same problem.

O.K.  I know that you can’t ’spot reduce’ and I don’t expect to.  However, I exercise regularly although not obsessively.  I have gone down that road before and refuse to again.  I have a fitball at home and an ab-roller which I thought I should incorporate into my routine of walking, Bollywood dancing and the occasional swim.  Apart from the standard sit-up, it there anything else I can do to get rid of a roll of flab which nestles just below the chest and above the belly button?  Please help, as this bit looks disgusting and even t-shirts aren’t flattering.

Managing friends on Nook - Help!

There are a few Nooksters whom I really enjoy reading their posts.  I have been trying to find all their posts.  I thought that all I had to do was go into My Dashboard and then Friends.  I have added these people and their names appear on the My Nook page, but when I click on their name, it tells me that the address doesn’t exist?  What am I doing wrong?

TV Show - Bodies

Hey.  Did anyone else watch the brilliant show called ‘Bodies’ on ABC?  Unfortunately I missed the final ep which was on Tuesday night.  I saw every other episode leading up to this.  Does anyone know how I can go about finding the final ep somewhere (internet site?)?  If they re-run this show, be sure to watch it.  It does get quite graphic in parts, but the acting and storylines are brilliant.  Hope they have a second series soon.

Feisty Redheads

This is my cat.  She’s a complete ratbag and gives me no end of trouble by getting stuck up on the roof on our house, climbing the curtains (and ripping them) and taking a flying leap from the floor onto my chest when I am fast asleep at night.  She will lie on your lap, purring contentedly for ages and then, for no reason at all, sink her fangs into your hand.  I put it down to her being a redhead.  Feisty and quick to anger, like her human counterparts.

For all her antics and irritating ways, I couldn’t imagine life without her.

Here she is pictured.  she actually stayed still whilst my daughter decorated her like a Christmas tree.IMG_0155.JPG

Hypnotherapy to quit smoking

Has anyone ever tried hypnotherapy to quit smoking?  I have made an appointment to give this a go and am wanting to hear of anyone else’s experience with this method.

New Pepsi Ad

Does anyone know either the name of the band or the song which features on the new Pepsi ad?  I love it and am hoping to find out so I can put it on my iPod.

Trying to Find Old Friends?

Try friendsreunited.com.au.

I went on this site a couple of years ago.  It’s amazing how many blasts from the past you’ll find there.  Old school friends, old workmates, old club members.  I have been contacted, and made contact, with quite a few people I knew from approz 30 yrs ago.  Today, I received an email from a work colleague I hadn’t seen for 16 years.  It’s great fun and very nostalgic!  I still haven’t managed to find a boy I used to like lots when I was in Grade 4 but I know that, if he’s still of this planet, then he will eventually pop up on this site (even if it’s because someone who knows him will see my message).  Last year, I reconnected with another guy from NZ whom I met when travelling around Europe 13 yrs ago.

Does anyone have any great stories to share regarding being reunited with old friends, family etc?
